Is there actually a fee if you change your class schedule?

"A drop/add access fee is assessed to students who choose to make schedule adjustments after two business days have elapsed since the initial registration. The fee is assessed for each calendar day during which the student makes schedule adjustment(s)."

That is ridiculous…how much is the fee?

$8.50 for each separate change

I have never heard of this before. My brothers and sister are constantly changing their schedules and their schools dont charge a fee.

It’s $8.50 per day, (12:00AM-11:59PM, not rolling 24-hour period) not $8.50 per change.

So if you make 3 changes in 24hr time frame you will be charged $8.50? Sucks if you are wait listed and have to add and drop classes.

Given that you’re paying OOS tuition to attend IU, $8.50 isn’t much in the grand scheme of things. I paid it twice in 4 years

You are right since I am paying OOS tuition I should not have to pay to change my class schedule

For future reference, you can do free drop/adds within two days of your initial registration each semester. After two days, they charge.

Just to answer your question, yes, the 8.50 charge per day (12:00 AM-11:59 PM). It’s not for a 24 hour period. If you are changing classes from 11:45 one night until 1:00 AM the next morning, you will be charged for two days.

Maybe they charge the fee so that people will not be “constantly changing their schedules” like your siblings do.

At large universities it is very common to be wait listed and to have to make schedule changes. Many people on CC have commented that dont worry if you dont get your classes during orientation at IU because you can adjust your schedule as new sections open up.

If you wait list yourself and use the “drop if enrolled” option, you won’t be charged the schedule change fee.

thanks hkem123 that makes more sense
