Drop/Add process

Just wondering how it works. I know it begins Aug 1. Does that mean people stay up until midnight tonight to make sure they get their changes in, or will it not even be available until sometime later tomorrow so no use waiting up? My D was originally scheduled in a HIST205 class that overlapped another class. Her advisor solved the problem by putting her in a HIST206 class but, per reviews of the professor online - he is terrible. There is another HIST205 class available that works with her schedule and it looks like the teacher is awesome. Why her advisor didn't switch her into that class to begin with, I don't know (D even suggested it to her). But there are only 2 out of 42 spots available for that class so I'm thinking the soonest she can do it, the better.

Not sure if the system has improved, but unless there are technical glitches, it will be a battle of the mouse clicks. The system was always a bit flaky during the first day, for the same reason you need to use it. But it has been a while since we had to play the online drop/add thing. Though it really didn’t become an issue for my D until she got into the higher level courses where the alternatives were slim. My D treated it like a chess game and even put off courses a few semesters if things didn’t pan out with the scheduling.
