Drop class in high school affect on college acceptance?

i came to american high school 2 years ago as a international student. (Korean)
i started to study in 2nd semester of 10th grade.
and i am senior right now. but i have a question.

i had full credits of math and science. (3 credits each)
but im taking calculus and physics now.
if i finished those courses, i would get 4 credits of math and science.
And my grades is B in calculus and A in physics.
but it is really hard to get B or even A in calculus.
However, in physics class, it is really easy to understand and to get
good grade. i try to drop my calculus class before the 2nd semester begin.
I asked my counselor last time at begining of 1st semester because i thought that i cannot
afford to take that class. But my counselor told me; if you drop that class, the 'drop' word
shows on your transcript and it might be bad effect.
I dont know what should I do then.
but is it okay to drop it or just take it.
Also, i want to go to state university in USA. not a private college.

I have the same issue with BC Calc at my school! I have a B and I don’t know if I can get it to an A for my report, but I don’t want to drop to AB and have that show on my transcript.

How competitive is the state school you want to get into? Many state schools would understand the difficulty of calc, and would accept you without straight-A perfect grades. At the end of the day, I think they would appreciate that you stuck with calc and got a B instead of dropping, but that really depends on how competitive admissions are at this school. Sorry that answer probably doesn’t help much, but I think you’re okay. Don’t sweat it.

Don’t drop it. Dropping looks terrible. A B in calculus does not. Besides, the knowledge you gain in calculus is far more valuable than the grade. You will want to take it before leaving highschool. No reason to drop it after one semester.

if my calculus class is AP course, i would take that class. but it is just honor course…
so annoying studying that.
