Hi CC Im currently struggling on my decision to drop my microeconomics class right now because the deadline is Nov 12 and the next exam is next week. I currently have a C. The reason I have a C right now is because I scheduled it during night from 6:30-9pm and some times I would need to skip class in order to help my mom out. My question is will a W look better than a C if its part of my major pre-req. I am planning on transferring as a business major so I know this class is really important. So far I gotten A's in all my accounting + Calculus courses and an A in my macroeconomics course.

So yea could I get some input on whether or not I should drop my micro class right now and retake it next quarter for an A or try and aim for a B next week? Also would a W in a major prereq affect admission to schools like Haas and UCLA's Biz Econ?

I would drop for a W if I were you. One W won’t affect your admission to Berkeley. I asked Berkeley & UCLA reps and they said that as long as you don’t get repeated Ws in same course we won’t be penalized at all. I would definitely try to get a B but if not, I would drop… I think a C affects more negatively than Ws.

Haas is incredibly tough to get into, so yeah that’s not going to be a cakewalk either way. They have a lower admission percentage than a lot of grad schools.

Personally? I’d take a W and retake it next quarter. Cs are the worst since you can’t get rid of them.

No. The W will stay, but it won’t count for the grade/gpa. And like other people stated before, as long as you don’t have ridiculous amount of W, the admissions people will not care.
