Drop off

Move in day for new students was Sunday for Cate. We flew cross country a few days early with 4 checked bags & a carry on. Mattress topper & pillows were ordered and shipped to school. We bought a few storage bins, a nightstand & furniture for balcony once we were there. We didn’t mind the weather but everyone commented that it was unseasonably warm! The campus was definitely brown due to drought as they had discontinued watering. Students were very friendly and helped us move in, it took quite awhile to unpack because so many people stopped in to introduce themselves, say hi and offer to help with anything we needed. DD has skyped with us a couple of times and seems to be settling in. Yesterday was first day of classes and she was doing homework with friends during study hours so that is a good sign  Looking forward to parents weekend in October!

@payn4ward, I’m glad to know that I’m not the only parent almost giddy with excitement over finding the back of my kid’s head in a picture from orientation posted on the school’s website. I showed the picture to my husband and he didn’t even believe me that it was soxgirl, but I know what her ponytail looks like!

@fullofbs School website now shows returning charter bus scheduled on Tuesday 10/13… then DS could come home for the long weekend and fly back… decisions decisions…

Coming home can be kind of confusing… and more work emotionally for a boarder… especially if it involves a lot of travel? Depends on the person…but rest and more rest… always win!

I got an email yesterday with arrival info. It’s getting real!

We drop off at Solebury on Wednesday (returning students). New boarders move in Tuesday. We are about 90% done with our packing and I’m hoping these last few days drag. She was in Japan for five weeks (a service trip) and I’ve had her home for the last month…I wish it where longer. :frowning: BUT she loves Solebury and cannot wait to move back and see her buds. I’m really going to miss her.

I talked to DS and he thinks it’s too much hassle to come home for fall long weekend. My baby has grown, sniff sniff :(( I asked what he wants to do with me there. Visit NYC? Boston? During the long weekend, DS wants to just sleep and relax. :open_mouth:

Giddy again, having found DS in this photo :))
oh, the distance you will go… to find Waldo!

@NYCMomof3- Solebury sounds like such an awesome school. Exciting times… I loved watching my kids reunite with their friends… They would practically jump into their friend’s arms and always pick up exactly where they left off.

At the beginning of each school year there was always so much fun, excitement and promise in the air! I loved how they would greet faculty members/ dorm parents/ coaches on move in day, too … first with a firm handshake followed by a giant bear hug. Good stuff- I miss it. All the best to you and your daughter!! I know she’ll have a wonderful year

That said- we did our usual BS send off for K2’s college drop-off / Orientation…

Dropped his stuff off on the lawn in front of his dorm and took off. Don’t judge me! It gets really old after awhile ( JBS-SS= 6 years of BS X 3 kids!!! ) . He knows we love him…

I hope.

Drop off for my youngest is on Tuesday. We’re packed and he’s excited for this new phase. Mama, on the other hand, is a blubbering mess.

@PhotographerMom thanks so much. She loves it there and has made some awesome friendships. Since she’s been home from Japan, she’s been in contact with her Bs friends and even met up with a few here in the city for a Broadway show and dinner. I know there will be lots of hugs and shouting out with GLEE on Wednesday. I do love seeing this too! You made me laugh with the dropping off his stuff on the lawn…he knows we love him lol

Dropped DD off at Loomis on Friday. She went for pre-season sports and all went well. Four suitcases and a ton of shipped boxes did the trick for us. Had to buy a fan in town…was sweltering! Have had a few text exchanges but she is being kept incredibly busy with 3 two hour practices each day!!! Its weird…I miss her but am so excited for her journey. Hang in there everyone

@fullofbs Matriculation ceremony pictures are up.
