Dropped a class... replace with something else?

Hi, all.

My schedule was out of control due to a variety of factors, so, among other things, I ended up dropping a class. I was thinking about taking a short course to try to distract from the glaring W now plastered on my transcript, but there really isn't anything that my school offers this semester that is of interest to me. All the short courses offered for this half of the semester are athletic courses (spinning, tennis, etc). Should I suck it up and take something? I was also exploring the idea of external options, such as a verifiable course from Coursera that isn't very demanding or an open source course or something to that effect. Does anyone have any thoughts? I definitely don't want to put myself in the same position as I did before (out of control schedule), but I feel like I have to somehow make up for it....

Thanks,

It’s fine - just do an extra course in a future semester or take a summer/winter session class to get back on track for the number of credits. And if your schedule was so overloaded, why head back in that direction now that you’ve pared it down?

If you are still taking a full time load (usually >12 credits) then don’t do anything at this point. Work toward getting the best grades you can. It is better that you withdrew before you failed and can spend the effort on the other courses. You will make up for it eventually…maybe you take a summer course at some point.

It sounds like you dropped to class to lighten your load. Adding another class would defeat the purpose.

Don’t worry about the W. Unless you have tons of other W’s, it’s not going to matter.

Okay. Thank you for the input!
