Dropped class help?

Soooo… this is my first time posting on this board but at this point, I’d sort of appreciate some quick help and the advising center is closed for the day.

I’m an incoming freshman at Poly this fall, and I just logged on to my portal and found that one of my classes was dropped without my knowledge. It’s a class that’s crucial to my major, and as far as I know it’s one that I need to take this quarter. That class section seems to have disappeared from PASS too.

Being an International student I did not attend SOAR, so I’m not sure if I’m supposed to know what to do in this situation. Since it’s a block schedule class assigned to me by Poly, it seems strange to me that they would just cancel that entire class section, especially since it’s way past registration and basically all other classes are full so I’m down to 12 units which is bare minimum for me to keep my study visa.

So what I’m wondering is basically what I should do. Is this out of the ordinary for Cal Poly, and is it their responsibility or mine to get my schedule straightened out? (and will I get the money I paid for the class back…? Out-of-state tuition is sort of expensive for me since I’m paying for college by myself.)

If it says on your schedule that the class was dropped and it is no longer on PASS, then the class has been canceled for some reason. However, if it is still on your schedule, just on appearing on PASS, you are probably still in it. PASS will usually literally draw a line through a class section though if it has been canceled, not just remove it all together. Assuming the class is definitely no longer being offered, the best thing to do would be the contract registration and perhaps try emailing the person who was supposed to teach the class. If the class really is no longer available for some reason, you could try getting into one of the other sections. The teachers would probably be more willing to let you in if you explained your situation.

Thanks, and yeah, I found it on PASS on my second attempt and it was canceled. However, I just received an e-mail from my department saying the class was moved, so I just happened to check the portal right when they were making the changes. No need to panic, in other words.

I got a permission number though, along with the new class sections, but I can’t seem to figure out how to add the class again. Any idea how I get to the place where I’m supposed to enter the permission number?

EDIT: Never mind, found it!
