Dropped class

My daughter is a senior planning to apply to pretty selective colleges. During her junior year she wanted to take an extra science class in place of US History and take US History online. She enrolled in an online course at a certain college. She was through with about half of the assignments for the first semester when they switched the course to a new version with no warning. She ended up losing all her work and not getting credit for any of it. That should have been a cue for me to pull her out of that school, but at the time they promised to look into giving her at least partial credit for the assignments she had done (never happened). They also offered a six months free extension on the course (as I understood it). So, she decided to stay. However, now her record shows a dropped class and a new class (the one she is enrolled in now). How bad does a dropped class look on the transcript? Should I try to get it removed? She did not drop it after all. The school was completely at fault in this case. Our school does not count online courses towards GPA, so it is not affecting her GPA. What complicates things more, I am trying to solve an issue with them concerning her final exam grade now, so I feel like I need to pick my battles. On the other hand, I think once they send the transcript to our school it will be harder to do anything about it. Is this something that needs to be addressed when she is ready to apply? I am thinking about that question on the Common App about adverse academic record or something like that. Thank you in advance for any advice on this issue!

Dropping a class and replacing it with an equivalent class is no big deal. Don’t worry about this. If she feels strongly about it, she can write a note in the extra information section along the lines of “College XYZ reoganized its program mid term in spring 2018. My transcript reflects this with the original, cancelled course showing as dropped, and the replacement course showing as completed.”
