dropped class

if my friend dropped a class (doesn't show on transcript; we have a drop-period .. no penalty) .. from the AP level to the REGULAR level (as in not even honors), would that harm his application a lot? It was a AP Chemistry class, and he was on the Honors/AP "track" from all of high school before. He dropped because he claimed that it was too hard, but I don't think it's a good decision. (before, he was definitely ranked within the top 10 kids) Does anybody second me on that? We have one more week before AP signups are finalized so i dont have much time to convince him otherwise

I disagree with you.

While it may be easier for you, obviously your friend is viewing it as a harder course and needs to take a somewhat easier course. You souldn’t look down on him for it, and I doubt it’ll hurt his chances-colleges would rather see an A in a regular/Honors course than a D in an AP course.

I agree with HisGraceFillsMe
just because ur friend dropped an AP class doesnt mean hes destined for failure…kids with regular classes can have the same chance as any other kid in great colleges..
my friend “rob” went to stanford with only four ap’s throughout his high school career
so dont worry..ur friend is in good shape
