I dropped out of VCU. My GPA is under 2.0. I've started at Community College and have a 4.0. I'd like to go to UVA whether by transfer agreement or not. Does the fact that I've been to VCU mean anything. I could just send in my CC transcript and it would have everything I need for transfer. Does this break some moral code? UVA doesn't need to know that I've ever attempted classes at VCU when I was younger. If I get an associates degree, any work prior to will only be evaluated with respect to the associates?

Any thoughts or opinions. I messed up at VCU twice when I was younger and now I have my life on track. I don't want it to prevent me from having a chance at UVA.

You must send all transcripts, from all schools attended, when you apply to any college.

If you turn things around and do a couple years of excellent work at the CC, you’d probably be in a good position. Read the transfer agreement carefully as you pick your classes, of course.

Thank you for your response Dean J. What if my attempted credits exceed 60. If you get an associates degree the # of credits is trivial, right?
Sent from my Droid using CC App

Juzlo - This was my situation exactly. I went to VCU for a year, did horribly, and left after freshman year. But I did complete the transfer agreement after two years at CC and I’m off to UVA in the fall. All is not lost, but you must submit all your transcripts.

I had a very similar situation as well. I went to one college, did horribly, then went to a Va cc & did really well - and now I’m at UVA! Unfortunately you do have to send the VCU transcript, and probably HS as well. But never fear, mine were abysmal & my strong performance in cc is what landed me here. To some degree, I think the admissions folks appreciate the “I turned it all around” stories.

Also, like Dean J says, even if you don’t use the agreement to transfer, use it as a guideline to choose your classes. That’s exactly what I did & it was really helpful.
Best of luck!
