Dropping a 2nd semester course Senior year

I am currently a senior taking 6 AP’s

AP Calc BC
AP Physics
AP Literature
AP US Gov
AP Macro/Micro economics
AP Spanish

All of these classes are full year courses, except for economics, which is split into 2 different semester courses that are treated as completely separate classes. Would colleges care if I drop Microeconomics and replace that 2nd semester class with a free period?
What about if I am admitted somewhere ED already and try to drop it?

Not a great idea in general. If you are admitted ED you would need to contact the school to see if they are OK with maintaining your acceptance if you drop the second semester course (if they say yes, get it in writing if possible). If you don’t get in ED you would have to notify every school you applied to that you will not be taking the course.

When my friend’s D got into a competitive school ED and called to see if she could drop down a level in math, admissions told her that if she dropped the AP course they would “reevaluate her acceptance” so she got a tutor and stuck it out to preserve her ED acceptance.
