I was wondering if colleges would revoke my admittance if I were to drop a course? I'm thinking of dropping Spanish III at the semester, and take Psychology instead. Also, I put that I was going to take Spanish III for the full year when I was self reporting my grades/courses.

Colleges want to be notified of any changes to the senior year schedule. This keeps people from stating they will take advanced classes and then changing them to easy ones. Schedule changes can also be because of scheduling problems or changing interests. In general, colleges are OK with equivalent rigor class changes. However, if the class is one they consider as an admissions standard, this might be a problem.

Languages are one of these standards- they like to see 2-4 years of a language, so they may have considered Spanish III as a requirement, and dropping it is possibly a problem. If only 2 years is required, then it isn’t. Are the classes the same level of challenge? Spanish III is generally an honors class, and if psychology is not, that might be a problem. I don’t know if either of these changes would result in an admission revoke if you are an otherwise solid student, but it would be best to check with them before you make the changes. They may want to know why, and if it is a good reason- schedule problem, change in interest (you want to study psychology) they may be OK with this, but it is best to ask them since language is an admissions reqirement.

Yes, notify the college
