Hi I'm currently a freshman and I'm trying to drop a class AFTER the final exam...
First off, I am failing this class if I don't drop it.
The reason I'm dropping this class now is because I really did not find out about this late drop petition thing till like last week.
Earlier this semester my grandma who practically raised me passed away and it was an absolute shock to me.
I just wasn't myself and even though I kept telling myself and other people that I am fine but I wasn't
This class was already overwhelming before the bereavement but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have failed it if I was able to concentrate.
My other classes are not even problems as I have A's and B+'s in them.
Will they let me drop this class because I honestly did not find out about this till last week and I would have submitted the petition much earlier if I knew.
Also, this class is required by my current major but since I'm trying to switch out to a different major next year and this class won't be required then.
Thank you

No one here can tell you with any certainty what they will do. Dropping after the final would be highly unusual. You would need immediate consultation with the “Emergency Dean” for your college who is available to help when these types of issues arise. You’ll definitely need dean-level intervention for any chance of obtaining a withdrawal at this late date.
