Dropping a class/effects on admission

This semester I'm taking your standard "intro to _" and "intro to _ (part 2)" courses. All of my classes are currently B's and will be A's by the end of the year, however, one class of mine (College Algebra) is a class I have a terrible grade in*, probably somewhere from 50-60 after the midterm. I can only get an A- if I'm EXTREMELY lucky in the course, and a B+ would require substantial effort, because my homework grade has been decimated by constant misunderstandings of what the professor wants (to compare, this professor speaks fluent English, and I have no problem understanding my Chinese professor, who has a heavy accent.) Coupled with the "midterm report" for colleges I don't think it's worth it to keep this class.

Which would hurt me more? A really low grade (50-60 now, probably in the high 70s (C) or low 80s (B-) by the end of the year) or a W?

I have a lacking foundation in math and really didn't intend to take this course in the first place. I had signed up to take Intro to Biology part 2, and my university canceled it due to insufficient registered students. Initially, my plan was to study all of my weak points during the school year and take it during the summer.

A W isn’t the end of the world at all. My general rule of thumb is drop it if you are in the C range and keep it if you are in the B range. If it makes you feel any better I was admitted to the University of Miami and I managed to actually FAIL my organic chem laboratory. Granted its just a small 1 credit and my other grades were good but it just goes to show that you can still be admitted with one bad grade, and UMiami had a 17% acceptance for transfers this year.
