<p>I am currently part of a FIG that includes a specific CH301 class as part of the common coursework. I would like to switch to a different chemistry professor, so I was wondering whether it would be permissible to drop a class that is part of the FIG.</p>
<p>I’m not sure if you can. Having the same classes is a big part of the FIG experience. What is your reason for switching?</p>

<p>It isn’t essential, but I’ve heard great things about Dr. Laude as a chemistry professor, so I would like to have him if possible.</p>
<p>You can drop a class in a fig, I had a few people in mine do it. But I’m not sure of the consequences or what happens when you do it. They were still in my fig but I’m not sure if anything specific happened.</p>
<p>At orientation the advisors said that dropping a class in a FIG would take you out of the FIG and the classes that come with it.</p>
<p>Dropping a class in a FIG does not take you out of the FIG at all. As long as you’re still signed up for the FIG seminar, you’re still a part of the FIG 
Trust me, my FIG buddies did it and nothing bad happened at all.</p>
<p>I dropped 2 of the 3 classes for my FIG a few years back and was able to still remain in the group, so don’t worry. It’s much better to just find a class you enjoy more.</p>
<p>What happens if we don’t attend a fig seminar? Or maybe attend one and never attend another one?</p>
<p>It doesn’t matter. It’s okay to skip them. Attendance depends on how tight-knit your FIG is. For some FIGs, the mentor sucks or doesn’t do very many activities and so attendance will decline over the semester. My FIG was awesome and attendance was quite steady throughout the semester and we even got to extend our FIG to the second semester.</p>
