Dropping a Class to Study for Comp Sci.

Hello all,

School has started already and I'm keeping the same rigor I did last year with 4 AP classes (Literature, Statistics, Pyschology, and Government) . However, I'm thinking of dropping my Literature class in favor of studying for the AP Computer Science test instead. I already received a 4 on my AP English Language test, so there's no need for me to take the Literature test at all. Assuming that I do self-study well for the Computer Science test, will it be bad if I dropped out of Lit.? How impacting would it be to my college apps if I were to take the AP Computer Science test as well?

Same situation mate, I got a 4 on lang, and instead opted to take the on grade level English class. Dropping AP lit, I replaced it with AP comp sci, with a total of 6 APs senior year.

Your situation is a little different, since you are going to self study it, so I would not drop AP lit, just tough it out. 4 APs shouldn’t be bad it all. And I don’t know about you, but I feel in senior year its OK to get a few Bs. Just keep AP lit for GPA boost, and not take the AP exam. Comp Sci is a rewarding class, and my teacher on the first day gave a speech of how programming can change your outlook on life and stuff.

Yeah, I would love to take AP Comp Sci if I got the chance to. My school stopped offering it at my school a couple years back, so I’m a bit stumped. I took 4 AP classes last year and I felt that it was just up to my limits according to what I can do. However, I’m not sure if self-studying Computer Science on the side would weigh me down on workload.
