Dropping a Class--will it kill me?

I have this dilemma I was hoping you guys could help me fix.

I am a senior, but I am taking 7 classes, instead of the usual 6. Many seniors take 5, but for some reason, I chose to take 7. Now that first semester grades are done, I want to drop one class.
Here is my schedule:
AP Comp Sci A
AP Chemistry
Spanish 4
AP Statistics
Economics
Psychology B
Myth to Science Fiction

All of my classes are year classes, but I talked to my counselor and she said that if i wanted to drop a second semester class it would not show up on my transcript. I was thinking I would drop spanish 4, because I learn absolutely nothing in that class.

I really want to do this, and I was planning to tell my colleges that I am dropping the class because 7 classes was really tiring me out. But I am worried that this might affect my admissions process. Would the colleges, especially Pomona College, look down on this?

THANKS

as long as you aren't dropping it cuz you're failling i don't think there's a problem.

I got straight As this semester...it was just really tiring me out..

thanks

could someone please give me input?
thanks

if you're going to change your schedule, you should notify your colleges about the change

If I decide to change my schedule, then yeah, definitely I will notify my colleges of the change. But the dilemma here is whether or not I should change my schedule. would it affect my college admission?

It's not like you're dropping the APs...or your grades. It might hurt you a little because it shows that you're dropping it right as the second semester starts. But, from what you're saying, it seems like a wise move. Drop it--and notify your colleges.

thanks--now i have to convince my parents that dropping isnt always a bad thing..

Have your guidance conselor convince them. Adults talking to adults works better than adults talking to kids.

Either way, they should be able to tell how exhausted you are..

you have to notify the colleges?? gosh i completely changed my schedule for 2nd semester

yep or the freak out when they get your final grades and your classes aren't what they expected. But I wouldn't worry. I got in EA and called the school and asked if I could drop calc. they said no problem. i think it really depends on the class and your major. my part of the school doesn't require math so the whole thing was useless anyway.

I don't think your college will care if you only wind up with six classes instead of seven as long as it's not one of your more rigorous courses.

How the heck is Myth to Science Fiction a year long class, and how the heck do you get to take a non-terribly generic sounding English class in your high school?

^lol yeah, that class does sound fun :]
