Dropping a class...

According to my University's website, April 17th is the last day to change registration or to withdraw from courses without academic penalty. This means that if drop the class before that date I avoid a W?

Also, I'm only a Freshman in my 2nd semester. I took 5 classes for 15 credits in the fall, and I'm taking another 5 for 15 credits this semester. If I drop this class, I would only have 27 credits after my freshman year (no credits earned in HS). Doesn't this put me at a disadvantage to graduating in 4 years?

I suppose I would have to take classes over the winter mini semester (month long in January) to stay on pace...

1) a W stands for Withdraw, stupid

2) no

1) Academic penalty = “F” (oftentimes known as a “WF” but weighted as an “F”) … not “W”… you still get penalized.
2) well… yes, in some sense…

Basically, unless you’re actually failing the class, it’s not worth withdrawing… since everyone’s going to assume the “W” was a D or an F anyway!

OMGz no they won’t

if s/he needs the GPA, a W is better than a D

Right, but if I’m before April 17th, wouldn’t I just avoid the W penalty altogether?

why you say “right” only to ask the same question?

if you drop a class before 04/17, it’s a W; after that it becomes a WF

don’t go through life thinking penalties can be avoided that easily.

Chill out dude, I was just wondering
