I'm applying as a transfer student to a number of different universities (mostly ivies). I am currently enrolled in 5 courses, however I am considering dropping one. I was thinking about waiting until after I have submitted my transfer applications so that the voluntary withdrawal does not show up on my transcripts. Obviously, if I wait, the colleges to which I am applying will not know that I dropped the course. My dropping this course will not affect my standing with the university. Besides the "ethical dilemma" that this presents, am I under any obligation to divulge this information to the colleges to which I am applying? Were I to be accepted, could they use this as grounds to rescind my admission?
Thanks.

They will find out when you submit your final transcript. Personally, I would rather them deny me now for the dropped class compared to mid-summer. If they decide you lied to them or the class you dropped disqualifies you for admission, that would be pretty disappointing to discover at a time where your options are little to none.

I seriously doubt that they would revoke my admission if I dropped a single course. Also, this is hardly falsifying information; students at universities withdraw from courses all the time. Also, I would remain a full time student. Can someone please give me empirical evidence of this kind of case rather than just opinions and ambiguous terms of agreement?
Thanks

Both of the above are correct… if you don’t inform them of the dropped course after you submitted your application, then you will have falsified information. Either you get the W and tell them, or wait to get the W, and see if they revoke you. The risk is yours to take. I’m sure this question has been asked before though, so you should try to search the forum as well.
