Currently i'm a junior in high school, and I have done decently well all the past years. However, this year im really starting to suffer and part of that is from my Physics class. Im not taking AP physics, just regular. The problem is that I've never understood science, and I dont pick up on it very well. Because of this I'm really suffering in my overall GPA, as i am also taking several more vigorous classes. Still my Physics class is my lowest grade which is an 82.
I was thinking, should i drop this class and just take physical science? I know physical science is an easier class, and i can get an A in there. But how would colleges look at it? Afterall, it is my junior year and really the year it counts. I would prefer to keep a good GPA at 3.7+, rather than my current 3.5... Would colleges really turn me away, or put me at a disadvantage because of a class that I know im never going to go into in my future?
If it helps, I want to major in communications and minor in film since I am more an arts guy. These are my top colleges right now:
1. NYU
2. BU
3. UCLA
4. USC(southern california)
5. FSU

At most schools I’ve seen, physical science is the standard course taken by non-advanced freshmen before they take biology in their sophomore year. Are you sure you couldn’t raise your grade? You might be giving up too easily.
Is there another science class you could take besides physical science?

(As an aside, high school is way too early to say things like this…you shouldn’t only be taking classes you think will relate directly to the career you’ll have when you’re 35.)
