Dropping a Course...

So I really want to drop a course right now. First of all I am taking AP euro, bio, chem, and calc this semester. in addition I am also taking economics and I wish to drop this course. It's not really because economics is a hard to understand course, but more because my teacher is very demanding in it... in fact I am finding that I am putting more effort into it, such as projects... and lots of hwk..., compared to my AP courses. Now when I signed up for the economics course I expected it to be a nice interesting course that won't drain as much energy from me. Although I do find the material interesting I really wish to concentrate on my AP courses especially the science ones so I don't spread my interests in a variety of subjects but concentrate on a couple and obtain a higher degree of understanding.

So I guess the situation is that if I drop the economics course it will be recorded on my transcript. Is it better for me to stick with it or drop it and focus on my AP courses. As a reference I'll be applying to top tier schools. Will dropping economics right now really hinder me in the future. (If I do this would be the first time I have dropped something).

I think it will have a negative impact if you drop the course. Tough situation.

I agree with Collegebound2007. If I were you I would stick with the course, I suggest that you also talk to your GC about it.

any other opinions?

My GC says that it wouldn't have a big impact since I'm doing very well in the course right now. But I am highly doubting that since not even my mark gets recorded on the transcript if I drop it.

Blah but anyways screw it. I'm dropping it. I'm unhappy right now with my workload and I want to concentrate on prepping for chem olympiad and some math competitions. I should of just opted to self study and take some ap exams next year in may, which I will probably do later on.
