dropping a course...

So if im a senior and already applied to Cornell, and I want to drop 7th period track, would i have to somehow notify cornell that i was doing so? maybe it was a different school, but i remember hearing something about how you had to send something to them letting them know you changed your schedule....

It was in the Cornell letter that you needed to inform them of any changes in your schedule. I doubt that dropping track is a problem for them (they are probably most concerned about academic classes) but you should probably just check with them anyway.

Sorry, this was in the acceptance letter for ED candidates--were you accepted ED or applying for RD?

yeah sorry im applying regular decision

i called them and they said even dropping an academic class that doesn't pertain to your major is fine. [as long as it's not something like english or something] but if it's a government or social science class, they don't care if you are majoring in science.
I e-mailed the admissions office of my major and got a reply. They say it's okay, but I wanted a "paper trail" so to speak

what if I want to drop calc and I got in ED for the hotel school?

So they really won't care if it's not related to your major? i've been suffering through AP Government for so long! i wanted to drop it but i didn't because i thought it would look bad and i wouldn't get accepted. (RD, envi sci)

password- call them and ask just to be sure

yeah. so i emailed the hotel school, and they asked what class i would be taking in its place? our school doesn't really let us add classes on second semester and...i have no other math class to take. how do you guys think I should reply? THANKS! =]

are you planning to take another math class at De Anza by any chance? Maybe you could do that...like..."intro to stats"? or "calc for social sciences"

deanza classes registration ended already -- i'm wondering if I filled it with cooking or something if that would be okay. -- FREAKING CALCULUS.

there's still spring quarter coming up

hahaha. thanks yousonofatree SOOO much!! you always give me great info. BUTTT i emailed them back and was like, 'blah blah. my school doesnt' usually allow me to add academic classes 2nd semester, i'll see if i can add cooking, blah blah." and asked what they recommended. and they sent back that they "trust me and my counselor" to do the right thing and was just "curious abut what I would do with my time if I dropped Calculus" HAHAH. awesomeeee. GOODBYE CALCULUS AND MR. FREAKING-WORST-TEACCHER-OF-MY-LIFE. wheee!!

awesome! Cornell is cool. =]
