I am a freshmen 9th grader right now. I have a C+ in my spanish 2 class and tomorrow is the end quarter 3(middle of the semester). I got a B last semester and I am struggling and hate it so much. I would have a 3.9 GPA if I didn't take Spanish 2 but because I did, it lowered my GPA to a 3.7. Can I drop out of this class to have the grade I received last semester and the grade I am going to receive this semester not count towards my GPA? Should I? I don't need the credit at all as I already have 21 credits and all you need to graduate is 40.

What do colleges think? From what I have heard most universities don't care about your freshmen year but the grades you get factor into your overall GPA. I know college admission don't like dropped out classes, but its freshmen year though, I don't think they would care about a dropped class freshmen year. Does it look bad as a freshmen? I could just explain it in my essay that I was planning to take a different foreign language next year anyways and saw no point in taking it.

I am also going to take Chinese for my 10,11,12 grade years so I get 3 years of foreign language, so Spanish class is going to be useless.

Would it be a good idea to drop it? Would colleges/universities look down on it but I would get a much higher GPA though.
