Dropping a OChem the spring semester before transfer

Hi,
Here’s my dilemma: I passed the first ochem last semester (fall 2016) and am now taking the second ochem. I’ve applied to my chosen schools: UCSC (tagged-accepted), UCD for biology/animal science. But, because of personal circumstances mixed with the other classes I’m taking I’m now getting a D/F in ochem after the first test. I’ve looked at UCSC, from what I can tell it’s not required, davis says it’s highly recommended though I will call/email them to check. I’m just wondering if anyone has been in this situation or has advice on if it would be okay to drop it if I can just take it after I transfer.
Thanks!

Only drop if you know for sure you can’t get at least a C.

You don’t want to risk it. But ultimately it’s up too you.

I’d wait until the last minute to drop. Get a tutor and aim for a C.

Agree with everyone above. If you fail one test it’s not the end of the world. You can still raise that overall grade to a B. Get a tutor, go to office hours, and just focus more on that class if possible. Good luck

You should contact your admissions counselor at the school you plan to attend. For my case, I have a class I don’t have to take for the schools I’m aiming for, I’m only taking it in the first place for one UC which I don’t plan on going to. I contacted the schools and they told me to contact my admissions counselor, and from there, you’ll be able to know if you can drop it or not without it affecting your admission.
