Hi, I'm most likely going to go to UCSD for undergraduate fall 2007. I remember reading a while back that if there is any change in my senior schedule, my acceptance can be reversed. I am thinking about dropping my Advanced Cultural Studies of China class (history semester class), it's more of an elective I took out of interest but the class is not how I expected it to be. I was wondering if dropping this class would affect my admission because this class isn't required and is not one of the UC Approved Courses (I already took 3 years of history). I tried contacting admissions but I kept on getting sent back and forth from department to department about 5 times so I gave up and e-mailed them and am still waiting for a response. This worries me because I read somewhere that this girl wanted to drop her Guitar Class (or something along those lines) but admissions told her to continue with the class.

Thanks so much! And any other out-of-staters going to UCSD?

Dude, I dropped calculus my senior year and they didn't have any problem at all with that. I contacted them through email and all they responded was: "Please allow a week for us to update your file. Best Wishes."

I remember I only had to wait for less than two days for a response too.
Don't even worry so much about it; you'll be fine.

Well, it's April so you're asking about dropping it in the middle of the semester right? I don't know how UCSD handles that but I did drop AP Computer Science A before the second semester started because I despised that class. I e-mailed UCSD and they responded with something like "We will update your file. Best Wishes." I don't know how UCSD handles dropping classes in the middle of a semester. I'm guessing it'll be okay.

I am in the same case as you where I am failing a class with a D and will probably have no way of bringing it up to a C by the end of the semester. I've been admitted into UCSD as a Poli Sci major, and I'm failing AP Biology, which i really do suck at.

This is the only D that i have and the rest of my grades are mostly all A and B's with the exception of one C and a D(which is the biology class).

I've tried as hard as possible to bring my grade up in the class, but I've not only had family problems this year, I've had other internal problems. What can I do? I mean is there any hope in still retaining my admission? What are the chances of them revoking my admission?

I'm really desperate at this moment for answers. Its too late to call. But I will call UCSD admission tomorrow. By the way, let me know what they said to you in email.

I'm in the same situation as you are, I just have a D in AP Biology. What are you doing in your case? Do you have any advice for me, I'm really at the moment desperate. I will call admissions tomorrow, but im desperate to know what my chances are of getting it revoked and if there are certain procedures i should take in speaking to them. Thanks a lot.

Oh wow, thanks for everyone's feedback. 16399- hearing that from you gives a ton of relief for me. Yeah, I'm pretty pathetic, it's just the class is unbearable boring and I took it out of interest and now I've just lost interest. I e-mailed them yesterday so they should get back to me pretty soon, I'll post their response soon.

what happens when you drop a class and take another class but get good grades in all of them? For example I was getting an easy A in AP bio but i didnt like that class so after i got an A for that class for first semester, i dropped it and replaced it with AP government for second semester, which I am also getting A in. Should i even bother emailing them?

^
Yes! Definitely.
They most likely won't rescind your admission if you let them know about your situation right now. However, if you wait you're just asking for some potentially major problems down the road.
