Dropping Academic Courses? Poor Choice?

I am still waiting to hear from a few more schools (I’ll hear from all 5 by April 1st) and I’m struggling in my science class. I have all of the required number of lab sciences (2 years) and another science course I took freshman year. If I dropped the class now, would that be bad and cause a school to rescind me from their BFA/ BA Acting program? Or should I wait it out a little longer and ask the school I end up attending? It was only a few weeks ago that I realized I really didn’t need this class and I feel stuck. I don’t know how much longer I can wait it out. I also have PTSD-like symptoms from a personal trauma and it doesn’t help when the teacher yells at me for doing something wrong.

Does anyone have a similar experience where they dropped a class before they received all college decisions?

I “think” it would be okay to drop as long as it won’t cause a problem with your credits for graduation, etc. The colleges will likely only be looking at your grades/gpa. Things happen. But if you are concerned you should call the admissions office and inquire.
One thing in your post does have me concerned though. Actors get yelled at all the time. (My D has been working professionally for 8 years and directors/choreographers are sometimes VERY loud (tend to yell)- especially when they aren’t happy about something!) This may happen in college too. It is something you need to be aware of in this field. I just didn’t want you being unprepared. Best of luck!

@stagedoormama I’ve worked professionally too and I’m used to it in the drama field but I don’t think my science teacher is helping me by yelling at me for minutes in front of the class when I go to her for help on the classwork. Science is such a struggle for me. In theatre, the director/choreographer has every right to yell at us!

Thanks for the input.

Okay great! I was just concerned for you. And yea- drop that class like a hot potato! (after calling the school)
