Dropping an AP class after first semester of senior year?!

So I’m in 3 APs right now. AP Bio, AP Psych, and AP Calc. I’m going to be majoring in Biology. Both AP Bio and AP Calc are pretty challenging for me. But my AP Calc teacher just sucks. I went to my counselor to see if I could switch teachers but he said I couldn’t unless I had this teacher in previous years, which I didn’t. So my only option is to either drop the class or keep it and continue struggling. I have a C right now and this is supposed to be the “easy semester.” I can’t afford to get a C next semester, because I don’t want my GPA to go down anymore. If I drop it, I’ll end up taking an elective that’ll fulfill my math credit (like accounting, marketing, etc.). I called all my colleges, ones I’ve been accepted into and ones where my application is still in review, and they all said that it wouldn’t have any effect on my admissions.

Do you think I should keep it or drop it? I know that if I drop it I’ll be able to get an A in the elective and boost my GPA, but if I drop it, I might get a C again and I don’t know if it’s worth it. The only reason I took it is so I wouldn’t have to in college. However, looking at my performance in the class right now, I don’t think I’ll even do well on the AP exam. HELP PLEASE.

If your colleges say that it won’t affect your admissions, then it’s really up to you. if you think that you will continue to struggle and not be able to improve next semester then you can make that choice.

If you filed applications saying you would be in AP Calc all year you would need to contact each school to say you dropped the course. It could be grounds for a rescinded admission if your final transcript shows that you dropped the class.

Have you tried seeing the teacher one on one? getting a tutor? looking at Khan academy or other online tools?
