I’m in my senior year. I decided to take AP Lit because I thought I could juggle 4 APs but I was wrong. AP Lit is notoriously hard at my school. I’m not failing the class (hopefully I can keep a C by the end of the semester), I just don’t really care much about English and keeping all my grades because of this class is just a grind. I get about three to four hours of sleep because of this class alone, and I barely do any work in my other AP classes because of it. I’m also pretty dedicated to my extraxurriculars, which doesnt really help.
I honestly love my other APs and really passionate about the curiculum in those classes. I’m taking AP Physics, AP Stats, and AP Psychology and currently getting Bs across the board, even with AP Lit holding me back.
Since I want to major in sciences, people tell me there’s not really a point of taking Lit other than to make my transcript glow. So right now, dropping the class next semester seems very appealing.
My question is… how detrimental will dropping the class do to me?
Probably the most difficult school I’ve applied to is UC Davis and UC Santa Barbara, and I assume it will affect my chances significantly. I also applied to San Diego State, CSU Chico, Merced, and a few local privates like University of Redlands and Chapman. I’ve already been accepted to Fullerton.
