Dropping AP physics 1 Junior year

I am thinking of dropping AP physics 1 in my junior year and it will show up as W/P on my resume. Now, I am shooting for very hard schools and I am already taking AP chemistry. I don’t want to have W/P but I also don’t want to end up with B- on my resume. It will look really bad. Now if I drop it, I plan to take AP physics 2 for senior year because I won’t have very rigorous classes. Is it a good idea? Especially because I will take AP physics 2 which will show that I am interested in learning? I just have a LOT to do and I don’t want to fail chemistry or get bad grade because of it. Please reply and give me your thoughts.

Thank you.

A B- in physics is a good grade for many people bc its a hard subject. and it wont really hurt you if the rest of your grades are As. It will be a lot more impressive if you stick with AP Physics 1 and AP Physics 2 and show improvment in your grades as you go than if you quit and show colleges you gave up. Good luck!!

what if they won’t be ? I may have two B’s

I would drop it. You should have never taken two AP sciences to being with. B’s will kill your GPA.

I’d say stick with physics for the rest of the year and if you improve 2nd semester take ap physics 2. Saying, “I dropped the class bc I was going to get a B” makes you sound annoying and grade-grubby.

thank you. But I think I need to explain my self. I did not get a B- for first quarter, I got a C- but if i get B from now on, I will end up with a B- or B. But I am taking very hard classes and I want to do really well on them and not just A- but A. I also have a job because my family doesnt have the money. I am also in a lot of EC’s as a leader so doing physics will only make it harder for me to get an A in all my classes.

I know what to say to colleges. And I am not going to just drop the class and never look at it again. I will take summer class at community college (while doing research) then take physics C but senior year. I am not over obsessive over grade but I do want to do well. Trust me, If i had a B- for first quarter I WOULD NOT leave. But taking 6 Ap classes on top of physics is hard. I don’t want to half do anything. I want to do well. I know I can do well if I didnt have 6 other APs to take care of. Which next year I plan to take 3/4. BUT THANK YOU for the advice but I did decide to drop it.
