Dropping class after being admitted ED?

I was admitted to Cornell Early Decision for the major Biometry and Statistics. I have a pretty heavy courseload, and after being on a medication earlier in the semester, I began falling behind in all my courses. All my teachers have been pretty accommodating, with the exception of my AP Comp Sci teacher (an online class). I’ve fallen behind in all my classes, but it is particularly difficult for this class. Please note that my grade is okay for the first semester, but I really do not feel it will stay good.

I emailed admissions and ask my GC to contact them as well. Is dropping the course a terrible idea?

It is a terrible idea if Cornell says that your admission will be rescinded if you do. Wait until Cornell answers the question about whether dropping the course is ok.

Maybe. You need to wait to hear from Cornell. My child was admitted ED to college and the admission checklist specifically stated that any potential schedule changes to senior year courses had to be approved by the admissions office. An explanation for dropping the course was also required.

Agree…DO NOT drop the class until/if Cornell confirms in writing that it is OK to do so. And be prepared – Cornell may not approve the drop.
