Dropping classes?

Is it a bad idea to drop a class for my second semester? Will colleges look at it, will they notice or even care?? I mean are they actually gonna see my schedule this semester and care if I dropped on AP class, I just don't want to be in it anymore and I know I am not taking the AP exam. Should I stay or should I go??

bumpity bump

so I guess no one here is much into dropping AP classes?

you people suck

if you loathe it, do it. but if you're just dropping it because you sorta don't like it, i'd say to just suck it up. especially if this is what is going to help you to get into your top choice. but if you really hate it, drop it and then deal the with the consequences. frankly, i don't think that you wont get into 'that special college' just because you aren't taking that 1 ap class. i don't think they see your 2nd semester transcript unti you've already been accepted anyway.

colleges will see your schedule when you send in your midyear report and your final grades. some schools also like to be told when there is a major change like dropping a class.

it will look bad, but its effect on you depends on where you are applying...

your midyear tells them your 1st semester classes and grades, not your 2nd semester. especialy if you plan to drop it during your 2nd semester then they wouldn't no during the midyear. but they would find out at the final, but that is after you've already been accepted. if they school withdraws your acceptance after recieving your final report for dropping a class, then you have to ask yourself: do i really want to go to school there? but thats just me and i loathe anal people but i agree with starryeyedgirl and you should tell the school. my friend dropped ab calc in october and still got accepted into emory so i don't think you'll die a slow and painful death

you're telling we suck because we didn't reply your message in 20 minutes? You gotta be more patient, man.

thanks, Would they honestly withdraw my app over dropping one class? It has nothing to do with my major, has anyone heard of anyone having their acceptance withdrawn over dropping one class?

no. which is why i'm saying to go for it, but thats just me. but some schools are pretty anal, and if youre right on the edge and you taking this extraordinary class put you over the edge, it could mean something different

Ok its Biology II AP, I hate it, I'm never going to be a scientist. I'm applying to NYU, BU, USC, UT, Pepperdine, American and SMU, will any of these care?? I want to do communications or international relations, none of these schools would seriously hold dropping Bio agaist me would they?

i dont think so, considering that you want a major that has anything to do with that then again, it makes you look reallly well rounded. if you can come up with a good reason (ie. illness, etc. etc.) then maybe it would make a difference, and be sure to write that in your applications and mention it in your interview. but if you have like an F in the class then it might look suspiciious that you're just dropping it cuz your grade is le ***** so you should think about it. it depends on the rest of your course load and all that other business.

I have a B in the class, I just don't like it, and I only have one other AP class

Then keep it; AP english ought to be a breeze for most of the kids I know...

if youre miserable then drop it, otherwise just keep it.

senior year i dropped AP calc because i hated it, was really bad at it, and will never use it in real life. bad side? i had to write to every college i applied to and explain that.

you had to write to your colleges??were they ivies though??

your 2nd semester courses can show up on your midyear report if you're school is like mine, where 1st semester ends in Dec and mid-year reports are sent out in Feb-March with 3rd quarter grades. If you're school doesn't then domirican is right...they won't see it until after the school year is over and stuff.

I don't really know...I think it's a personal decision. You might want to email or call someone from admissions at whatever schools you are worried about and ask them. you don't have to tell them who you are, just say you are an applicant and explain your situation.

I have no reason tho, I guess i'm just being lazy, last semester of school, I really don't want to be doing AP bio labs for no reason, I don't know what to do
