Dropping classes

When it says last day to drop a class by Oct 30 it means you can drop any class? I'm really afraid that Calc 10550 will damage my GPA. I have a D in there so I want to drop it this semester. Does anyone know if that's possible?

Yes, it’s possible

Yes, it’s possible. As long as you will still have 12 credits after the drop. Make sure you start getting signatures soon.

shellzie, are fall semester midterm grades for freshmen usually this harsh? A “D” may be a wake up call but wouldn’t there be a good cahnce of pulling that up? Just curious. Thanks.

I don’t think midterm grades are usually that harsh. But as for bringing it up, it depends on the person and the class. Some freshmen are well prepared for the Notre Dame workload and some need to do some initial catching up, in which case, their grades should improve as time goes on. Also, some classes have more exams before break than others. If you have only had one test and have 3 more coming up, then yes, there is a great chance to pull it up, but if you only have one more test and the final, it will be more difficult.
