hey so does anyone know what the deal is with dropping courses midway through a semester? i've come to the depressing realization that I'm going to be making no higher than a C in one of my classes - completely my fault for slacking. All of my other classes most likely will be A's, but i just cannot deal with getting a C. Should I drop the class now, meaning relatively soon, and take a "W" on my transcript? I'm kind of freaking out so any advice is welcomed. Thanks.

It depends. I'm pretty sure it's not too late to drop a course.
Is the class required for your major? Approximately how many credits of classes do you have to take to fulfill major requirements to graduate?

On a side note, my high school's mascot is the Blue Devil...

The last day to drop is 4/11. I think the only people worried about having a "W" on their transcript are premeds b/c it doesn't look too good when applying to medical school.

the class is required for my major so i don't know what to do...If i drop a course with a "W", then does that mean I can't retake it, b/c i would have to

I believe you can retake courses you dropped.

Yeah, if you drop...just take it the following semester if its a prereq or whichever semester you want if its just an elective for your major.

The last day to drop is ridiculously late - usually 2 weeks before the end of the semester. There's a "seven week rule" they don't tell you about where you can drop within the first seven weeks and not have anything on your transcript. I've dropped courses before, and you get like a 'W' on your transcript, but it didn't impact my grad school decision at all. As far as I know, W's, D's and F's can be retaken.

if you drop like chm2045 and Chm2045L together does it count as one drop? does that go for all classes like that?

When you go to drop a course, like CHM2045, you can include CHM2045L in that drop IF AND ONLY IF you put them both on the SAME drop form. Otherwise, if you drop it later, it counts as a second drop.
