How bad does it look to drop down a level in a subject? Right now I'm a junior and my schedule is:
APUSH 1
science honors
math honors
english accelerated
latin 2
ap bio
an elective

I was supposed to take APUSH 2 next year, but to be honest, I'm not to good at APUSH (B average right now and it's really hard to raise...), and I honestly don't like history all that much. I'ld rather take accelerated. the thing is though, since I already took half of ap us history, would it look lazy to go down to accelerated since it's pretty much the same subject?
for senior year I was planning:
US history (level undecided)
AP physics
ap english
ap calc bc
latin 3
an elective
an elective

both latin classes are weighted

I'm aiming for NYU, Stevens, Rutgers, Barnard.

Every school in Central New Jersey to my knowledge does this, except mine. Just one.
It is a common practice believe it or not.

And it doesn’t look as bad as you think. College admissions officers are probably not going to examine your schedule and consider it a huge deal to drop down one level in a class when the rest of your schedule looks fine.

To the OP: based on your prospective list, you should be fine…I have a number of students who did this and are doing fine this year with admissions…

Yeah at my school AP United States History is a one year course: AP US, and AP US Seminar. I don’t think it’ll look bad, it’ll be better if you stuck it out, but you don’t like history (just like me) so it’ll be a waste of your time. Do what works for you.
