Dropping down levels?

I’m in standard lvl geometry this year (I’m a sophomore) and Im probably gonna finish with a C. Math is my absolute worst subject, and I’m good at everything else. I’m suppose to be taking Trig and Algebra II for my junior year. Would it look bad if I dropped down a level in math or just stick it through with bad grades?

What’s below standard level for algebra 2? Wouldn’t still be college preparatory?
Did you get a Check after struggling and studying or was it due to dislike of the subject hence not much how completed?

Math is a key foundation for many subjects going forward. By all means, drop down if it will give you a chance to firm up your mastery of the material. Make sure you seek out help to get the most out of next year’s course. This is about learning, not about college admissions.

It wouldn’t be a college prep class, it goes much slower. My school goes by Honors/AP, A, B, and then supported levels. I’m in A level math class and if I dropped down a level it would be a B level class. My schools goes by weighted gpa so I would also get less credit for that class too.

I tried really hard in marh, but I’m simply just bad at it or not getting the concepts.

Then i sounds like you should try and take B-Level Algebra 2. Will you be able to take Statistics senior year from a b-level class? You’d need 4 years of math for most 4-year colleges.

I was planning to take precalc senior year, not stats. But precalc is an A level/honors class

You have to decide on a path: B-Level Algebra2 -> Stats, or A-level Algebra2-> precalculus. Howver with a C or D in A-Level Algebra 2 do you even have a shot at precalculus? Because Algebra2 is harder than Algebra1 and precalculus harder still, so it’s likely to be even harder for you. How well did you do in Algebra and did you take it A Level, Honors…?
