I am currently a junior in high school and taking AP English Language/Composition. However, I am considering dropping down to honors English instead of continuing on to AP Literature in my senior year. I am taking three AP classes this year, and I am signed up for 4 AP classes next year (which would become 3 classes if I drop AP Lit. Therefore, with dropping AP Lit, I would still be taking the same amount of APs as a senior that I took as a junior). Will this greatly reduce my chances in the college admission process?
No, assuming that the drop does not cause your GC to rate your schedule as anything other than “most demanding.” So ask him/her.
Additionally, if there are other students applying to the same target schools as you and they are taking a more rigorous schedule, than it may impact you, but without seeing your entire application packet, nobody here can say for sertain.
