Hi. I'm a sophomore at a public school. I am planning to take AP Comp Sci next year but due to scheduling problems, I'll either have to drop my orchestra class or my Spanish class. I know colleges like to see consistency in high school, but i really want to take computer science. So what do you guys think? Should I drop orchestra or my language class?

For the schools you are interested in- and their level of competitiveness- you need to check their language requirements. (And your hs grad reqmts.) It also depends on your possible major. Whether or not to drop orch depends on, again, how high you are aiming, how much you are already involved in music performance and the quality of your other ECs. (Some kids are so involved in music- personally, hs groups, All-State, etc, that this one class doesn’t matter as much.) Again, depending on the tier of colleges.

As long as you meet the language requirements, I would say drop language. Colleges will want you for their orchestras (potentially) but you won’t add much by taking another year of language.
