I am dropping out of UCD beacuse of low GPA and have about 50 units! I dont know what to do, should i go to CC and transfer to a different school, maybe state? I have no interest in going back to UCD.
I am angry at myself that i screwd up so bad! so what will my options be?

what happened?

I just had a GPA of 2.4 and I am quitting before I get disqualified. I want a fresh start, and I know I can work hard! How do i start new all over?

i want to know what causes one to fail out of uc davis.

and admissions will too.

@UCKittychen HIS GPA CAUSED HIM “TO FAIL OUT OF DAVIS”

@tealamide I’m sorry for the hard times, man, but this is recoverable. Go to CC, it’s the best place for many people to get back on their feet. Do be aware though that if you want to transfer back to another UC, there is a unit cap for those who have already attended a 4-year, so you will have to be careful not to hit that. Take your time at CC, find something your passionate about and go at it, hard.

What GPA do we need to maintain to avoid being kicked out from a UC?

@ tealamide- stuff happens, if you want a fresh start go back to a CC and get GE out the way. If you plan on going to another UC than most of your classes from davis should transfer and you could probably end up at another UC in a year.
Note: I don’t think you can TAG but if you work hard like you said you can probably attend any UC or CSU you want. It’d prob be faster to transfer to another UC than trying to get Pre-reqs done for CSU, plus you have time at CC to get your priorities straight and have better insight as to what you plan to do. In the end its your decision.

…what caused a GPA to fall. chill.

i wanna know what the caused for a fall GPA too.

@Uckittychen , My GPA is so low beacuse I have a combination of a really high Gpa and really low, so like almost 4.0’s and then around 1.0 when i started having my depression and stuff

@others, I am thinking of going to CSU, i feel like UC wont take me back! so what would be the requirements for transfer to CSU be? and how easy is it to get in?

and oh what happens to my gpa, when i transfer to a new school( CSU ) as a completely different major?

you had a great shot at UC Davis. I know we all make mistakes in life but that was a ticket to a very better life.

UC probably won’t take you serious if you reapply. So yes your best bet is CSU. UC possibly for grad school with a excellent CSU track record.

It’s already difficult to transfer from UC to UC via reasonable GPA, but to FAIL out of UC then go to CSU then back to UC will indeed be quite a challenge.

I apologize if this seems harsh, but just to keep the whipped topping off and to keep things real.

You’re GPA will remain the same i am sure. CSU is like “level 2”, CC is “level one” and UC is like the max.

correct me if i am wrong but, most CSU units i thought won’t transfer. just like me trying to take GE level classes, but TAGing to UC Davis (sorry), I need my transfer units to be UC transferrable and not just CSU transferrable, but that I might be wrong about that one.

FYI a 2.4 isn’t failing since it’s the equivalent of almost a C+. At this point, you will most likely never get back into the UC system. If you are happy with potentially graduating from the CSU system, please realize that it will take you approximately 4 (if not 5) more years (since you won’t be able to take any CC classes until Spring and even then you probably will not get into many of the additional classes you need to transfer). Or, you can suck it up and finish 3 more years at UCD.

Information about repeating classes at Davis can be found here: [UC Davis General Catalog | Grades](<a href=“Office of the University Registrar (OUR)”>Office of the University Registrar (OUR))

95% of the time, college “depression” stems from students being in the wrong major (which stresses them out), over-exerting themselves (taking too many classes, not learning to time manage), or because they feel lonely and don’t get involved with other students/groups at school. Of course, everyone wants to claim that they’re really in the 5% that have severe depression, but please spare me your personal excuses.

If you do well for the next 3 years at Davis, you can easily offset your somewhat low GPA. It’s not the end of the world. I really recommend you rethink some of the things I’ve mentioned and figure out how to make UCD work for you. Good luck.

I know 2.4 isnt failing, but in my case, i have 3.8, 3.9 and the other 2 gpas on 1.2 and 1.3 when i screwd up! UCD wont take me back because they gave me a shot but i couldnt get a better gpa

now i want to graduate from csu, and i dont mind how long it takes, i know if i work hard i can do well and probably go to good graduate school hopefully~

the only thing that worries me is what if cus doesnt take me?

Go to community college —> transfer to a different school. Most people who get into a UC would get 3.8+ GPA at a CC and 3.0+ GPA at a CSU easily. I regret not going to CC –> CSU even though I have more than a full ride at a UC with leftover FA money.

@ Tealamide

If your circumstances are creating a situation where you will continue to get a GPA of 1.0 each term for the foreseeable future, it is probably best if you drop out of UCD before your GPA drops to the point where you are academically disqualified. You first have to stop the bleeding before anything else. CSUs will not accept transfer students who are not in good academic standing at their previous university. However, I would be careful before immeadiately trying to start at a CSU at this point. As usual, UCkittychen has no idea what she is talking about. CSU classes are far more rigorous than CCC classes and are at about the same level as UC courses in difficulty. The difference is that while over 80% of students who matriculate at a UC earn their bachelor degree, it is only about 40% for CSUs. You are unlikely to do any better at a CSU right now than you are doing at UCD.

I would advise you to take some time away from school to get your mental health issues taken care of and then ease your way back into academics at a CCC, where courses will not be as demanding and you will not be under as much stress as you are now or would be at a CSU. If things go well for you after a couple of semesters at a CCC, then you could start thinking about applying to a CSU or UC as a junior transfer.

So this is my plan, go to CCC and get the courses done needed for transfer to CSU, then apply to CSU!

The CSU I want to go is in the city I live in, So I can stay with my parents and dont have to commute, meaning I can focus on studies much more easily! I mean I was 3rd in my high school graduating class, and i got almost 4.0s my first two quarters at UCD… I just lost track because I cannot manage myself to live in the apartments by myself, and having no friends doesn’t help either!

If I continue one more quarter in UCD ill just break myself, i hate the place so bad!

If I do manage to do really well in CCC, what will my chances be for CSU? and if I do manage to do well in CSU, will grad school even consider me because of my bad quarters! :(

what do your parents think about this?

im guessing you’re going to go to Sac State?

surprisingly parents are very encouraging, though they are quite disappointed! but they keep telling me its how hard you work, and not always what school you go to…

@ Tealamide- If you do decide to go to a CCC then look up assist.org and see what CCC you will attend and what classes from there transfer to whatever CSU you are planning to go to. Just drop out of Davis and avoid the stress! If you are willing to stick to your plan, and if you get 2.6 or above then most CSU’s will easily accept you except for SLO and prob long beach. And your CCC gpa will not tally into the CSU gpa after transfer. Just try and get a 3.4 or higher along with a good GMAT score and your chances of Grad school will be very high.

so my ccc gpa wont transfer? how about my uc gpa?!

and will gpa transfer from all classes or only class thats credit tranferrabl! can someone explain?
