If i drop out of high school my senior year before second semester and go to cc for that semester and the following year earning 20 units each would i then be able to transfer to a uc as a sophomore?
You need 60 semester or 90 quarter units to transfer to a UC. Why would you want to drop out?? I am hoping you mean you will get a GED at least? Apply as a Freshman since more financial aid is available to in-coming Freshman than transfer students.
UCs don’t allow sophomore transfers. You generally enter as a junior.
Alright thanks guys
oh I think what he’s asking is that he’ll have three semesters. senior year spring, then fall, then spring. and he plans on taking 20 units each semester so that he can transfer as a “sophomore”. if that’s the case, then yes, you can do that. I wouldn’t recommend drop straight out though. you can take CHSPE test. (what I did during sophomore year)… “graduate” early, then go to CC. I took 18 units during summer, 24 during fall, 7 during winter, 21 right now. just got accepted to UCD and UCI… of course I wouldn’t recommend rushing this much if you don’t have a clear goal in mind yet… good luck!
I knew I wanted to go to a CC since my junior year of high school, so I took a super light load my senior year (teacher’s aid 2 of my 4 periods) and got a head start on CC classes. Don’t drop out.
Oooh i see now. Thanks very much!!
It’s not worth dropping out. If you won’t pass and want to start college immediately, you can get your GED or CHSPE for equivalency if you REALLY want to (although I don’t recommend it) and go to CC.
Still, I’d advise against it. Dropping out is pointless.
Also, taking 20 units per semester is ridiculously hard. Start off with a minimal courseload, and then work your way up.
