dropping out university for CC

Hi everybody, I'm currently attending Pace University in NYC and it is my second semester as a freshman. I am a commuter from NJ and am not pleased with my choice of school. I feel as though I am depressed going to this school because of the amount of $ it is costing my parents and it is affecting my grades (GPA- 1.59). I want to drop out and go to the local CC and then probably just go to maybe Rutgers Newark or Montclair State.

My goal is to either become a PT/OT or Pharmacist. Is it a good plan going to CC then transferring to a more local school. I plan on going into talk to my Academic Advisor as well, but I'm having trouble sleeping and stumbled upon this forum. Please give me some useful advice.

thanks

it is a good idea. I dropped out of Western Michigan University after 1 semester, went to CC for 3 semesters and just got accepted to the University of Michigan. Not only did I save a lot of money, I ended up going to a school far superior than my previous one that I attended just because i didn’t get into my top choices out of high school

Talk to your Academic Advisor ASAP. They can tell you the pros/cons/any info you need.

Personally, I think that if you are not happy at the university you are going to (and it’s costing a lot of money to go there) then find an alternative. By the looks of it, your attitude and GPA are in a major funk, and it doesn’t seem like you’ll be any happier as time continues. :(

I’m sorry you have to deal with this, but I sincerely hope everythings turns out for the better.

I have a friend who recently transferred because she was in a similar situation as you, and now she is a lot happier.

Best of luck!

This is good news to hear. I really wish I did more research in high school about colleges.

would doing all this school hopping affect my career choice path? most likely my grades will get better, but i’m wondering would it look bad going from school to school.
