Dropping second AP class senior year?

In the beginning of the year, I started off with 4 AP courses: AP Lit, AP Chem, AP Calc AB, AP Psych. I ended with a D in AP Calc AB, therefore I dropped it during first quarter because I believe it was affecting my other classes as well. However, the first semester is about to come to an end, and I’m about to end AP Chem with a D. Would it be worth dropping another class? I had already gotten into TCNJ which is my top school, and I’m not sure if this second W will effect their decision of admitting me.

Speak with your guidance counselor about that D and possible W in AP Chemistry. Your counselor should be able to help you determine what effect those will have on your admissions at TCNJ.

Your acceptance to The College of New Jersey – and hopefully to other colleges in the RD round – is contingent on your senior year academic schedule remaining EXACTY the same as you indicated on the Common Application.

As you have changed your senior year schedule by dropping AP Calc AB, you should notify TCNJ and see what they say. In addition, you should update your RD schools on this change and any further changes you make.

If you have aspirations beyond The College of New Jersey – and I assume you do as you posted this in the Harvard forum – you should NOT drop another class, as you would be weakening the rigor of your course schedule, and could have your acceptance rescinded by TCNJ or other colleges once your guidance counselor submits your final transcript. As such, I would highly recommend you make an appointment with your GC and get their feedback prior to making a decision.
