Dropping Spanish senior year: yes or no?

So all throughout high school (I am currently a junior), I was planning to drop Spanish senior year because 1.) I REALLY dislike it, 2.) I don’t think it is absolutely necessary for me to take it for what I want to do, and 3.) I normally get B’s.

I have been in Spanish Honors freshman through junior year (also took spanish all through middle school), and am currently in Spanish 4 Honors. My counselor is being very pushy/ pressuring in trying to get me to continue to AP Spanish 5 next year even though I really don’t want to. If it helps, I am mainly thinking about getting into education as my career.

How would this look to college admissions? Would it make huge difference in whether or not I get accepted into a college? Without Spanish next year, I would only have 4 CORE classes (AP Calc, AP English, History H, and AP Physics) plus a couple electives. Also, I really want to go to UW Madison.

you are at spanish 4 which counts as level 4 and is equivilant to someone taking spanish for 4 years. With language, the level you reach is what is important and there is no need for you take spanish next year. Dont take a class you’ll hate.

Also wanted to ask: if I drop Spanish, would it best if I took an AP or Honors class in place of it? Or would taking a regular-level elective that would really be beneficial to what I want to do be okay?

I personally think that relevant courses would be fine unless you are aiming for a top school

No school in the country requires or expects more than 4 years of a language.
