I want to drop spanish because 1) I don't like the teachers 2) I don't really want to take it 3) I want to have 2 science classes 4) I want to restart my spanish education in college anyway.
If I take it senior year, I would be taking AP. I feel like I haven't learned enough and I'm just... done. But is it a red flag if I don't take it? (I want to go into a pre-med program in college)

Not at all. I’m also doing the same. Colleges like to see if you did your 3 years.

Yeah. I’m dropping Spanish senior year as well and I plan on applying to Ivies.

Are there any opinions about about taking AP Spanish after Spanish 3 Honors? I’m taking Spanish 3 next year, and i was wondering if I should take AP Spanish, or if it would be too much new content.

@awakeningvenus sadly it’s really hard to say. some schools have great spanish programs while other schools have really sucky ones. unless you want to teach yourself spanish 4 over the summer, i would stick with not skipping… that’s just me though.

@bozllie Thanks for the input! I don’t know who the AP Spanish teacher is at my school, but I’ll ask around at my school and see if it’s a good idea.

that’s a good idea! @awakeningvenus If you go for it and it’s too overwhelming you can drop… every school has a different rule but if you drop within the first 3 weeks of the year (at my school), the drop won’t show up on your transcripts. Talk to your school counselors! :)

I was under the impression that the most selective schools like to see 4 years of a language. I could be wrong but I know its true at least for Bowdoin.

Actually, most 4 year universities only require 2 years. Like always, ivies and some others may be an exception, but for most universities that’s average.

My oldest son dropped Spanish after junior year too. Still got into Cal.
