Dropping Spanish

Hello I am a sophomore in highschool who hates Spanish. I was wondering If it would be okay to just drop it. I would intend to replace it with an ap science class but i would not take another foreign language class. A lot of people are telling me this looks horrible for colleges but is it really that bad? Will I still be able to get into a great school? Any advice is very helpful and thanks in advance.

What is your current level in Spanish?
Are you fluent in any languages other than English?

I am in Spanish 3 and no not at all sadly

Tippy top schools like to see 3 full years of a single foreign language.
Spanish 3 is enough IF it means you took Spanish in middle school, then Spanish 2 as frosh and Spanish 3 as a sophomore-you are good.

I think you are better off stopping Spanish at this point and using that space in your schedule to add in another class in your areas of strength.
Have you satisfied your HS graduation requirements for language?

yah i have thanks a lot guys this is a weight off my back I am very grateful

Spanish 3 would have counted as 3 years of spanish proficiency regardless of how many years it took you. Keep in mind that some of the most selective colleges want you to have taken 4 years in a language (often it’s just 3 though), but the decision is up to you. Learning a language is very beneficial especially in an increasingly globalized world, but don’t stomach it if you aren’t enjoying it.

Be aware that some colleges have FL requirements as well.
