so english isnt exactly my best subject so I need to do really well on this next project to make up for bad tests. the project is a personal anthology composed of a preface and 5 entries. in each entry i need to find some piece of work(poems,songs,1 art) and then analyze it and relate it to me. problem is, that im not familiar with poetry whatsoever and dont kno how to begin looking for poems. other problem is, with the songs, i feel like most of my favorite songs are about love and i want to write about soemthing more meaningful. i want to find some sort of poem or song about the value or family and friends and one about trust. any help with poem/song suggestions would be great!

Richard Cory by Edwin Arlington Robinson

[45. Richard Corey. Edwin Arlington Robinson. Modern American Poetry](<a href=“Authors - Collection at Bartleby.com”>Richard Corey - Collection at Bartleby.com)

It’s awesome… you can relate it to any senior in college application season.

For artists, check out William Fitzsimmons, Glen Hansard/The Frames, Missy Higgins. All three are incredible lyricists, and you’re sure to find something in their work that really hits home with you.

I love Richard Corey too. I think everyone does. At my school every English teacher has you read it at least once a year.
My favorite poet is Edna St Vincent Millay. I’m sure you could find something in her oeuvre about trust.

I’m in AP English also, and we just got done with a poet project. Some entertaining/good poets include: Sylvia Plath (The Bell Jar, very crazy), Dylan Thomas, Billy Collins, e.e. Cummings, and Gwendolyn Brooks. Good luck!

I could provide you with some of my poetry. It has been critically acclaimed as “heart-wrenching, soul-tugging, and mind-blowing.”

for a song:

Do Fancy, by The-Dream. It’s about a guy who tries to please his girl by buying whatever she wants. G4 Jets, Trips to Paris, he does whatever it takes to keep her.
