Hey
I'm new to this site and was wondering if all of you could introduce yourself just so the environment can get sort of more comfortable. The discussions here are great - I'm actually very impressed that other people like to discuss the same things I do!
So, I'll start!
my name is Anna Khan and I'm from Lahore, Pakistan. (No, we don't live on trees, we DO have houses - lol I was actually asked this question this one time at Columbia Summer School.) I'm currently a junior and will be applying to several ivy leagues in the fall. I've had 4.0 uw since tenth grade and am an active member of the student council and vice-president of the MUN society. I've coached numerous middle school sports as well.
I've noticed that the competition in America is absolutely grueling. I think its true that international students have a definite edge in the "Getting into college game." But here's the problem - to get into an ivy from Pakistan, you need to be the BEST or one of the BEST in the whole country whereas you guys can get by if you're exceptional in the state or the town. For places like Pakistan, the ivy leagues have a set quota that they can't go over - just 1, 2, 3 tops can be accepted. So its not easy. Anyhow, please introduce yourself and im really looking fwd to getting to know all of you.
