Yeah how do you know?

I was aiming for 1500.

I got a 1520... 790M/730V.

I thought I'd done better than that on verbal, but whatever. I met my goal.

800M / 760V

w00t w00t chugga chugga chugga w00t w00t!!!

800V/780M.
I want to kill myself. I am not supposed to lose points on the freaking math section.

I'm ashamed. :(

1500

800V - 700M

Ashamed? You people should be GRATEFUL. Considering that the national average is around 1000/1100, you have NO reason to be ashamed.

dualityim - do you think colleges are going to CARE if you lost a couple of points on one section? 780 is just as good as 800. Moreover, why should YOU care if you lost one or two points? It's not the end of the world. It seems to me that people who are disappointed because of missing the ultimate 1600 by 10-20 points are those who care only about bragging rights. In terms of your own ability, 1580 is no different than 1600.

Rtael, I don't see why you should be ashamed either. 1500 is an incredible score and you should be VERY pleased with yourself. If you're upset because there are others who have scored higher than yourself, then I hope you're prepared for a disappointing future. If you're going to keep comparing your ability to that of other people, then you're going to be miserable for the rest of your life because there are ALWAYS going to be people who are superior to you (and to most everyone else). Why compare yourself to others? Just be satisfied with what YOU ALONE have achieved.

Honestly, the way people on this board treat their SAT scores is ridiculous. I got a 1440 and I was over the moon about it because it was one of the highest scores in my school, if not in my country. I am not going to be disappointed with my achievements because so many people on CC score in the 1500-1580 range.

Copied from Blog:

Well, I just logged into collegeboard and saw my SAT II Chemistry score glaring at me - pathetic 790 (my first self-studied SAT II, having only one semester of chem). I keep on making scores that are so close yet so far!! One more question correct and I would have 800'ed. I really want to retake it. WHich really means every step counts!! THe PSAT too, I missed National Merit by 3 though I'm a sophomore, but it may apply to early entrance applicants. And it's very likely to apply to the AMC 12A too, where I am likely to receive 98.5 or 104.5.

And I got 45 out of 50 on a chemistry final. This sounds familiar.

"I just received a 790 on the SAT II Chemistry exam ugh...one more point!!!, which corresponds to the 96th percentile, and am wondering if I should retake it, since it is a very easy exam. I know this sounds ludicrous butoh well I'll just ask anyways because it doesn't hurt. While retaking a 790 on the SAT I sounds ludicrous, it doesn't seem to be so for tests that are generously curved, like the Math IIC and the Chemistry."

i agree with nkay... honestly u guys from 1400 collleges dont care about the sat... it wnt mater if you got a 1400 or 1500 in their eyes... as long as u demonstrate the point then thats that... and takeing the chem test over again.. thats a waste of good money man!! give it to the tsunami children, i think doing tht would backfire.. sheesh... i mean ur a sophmore and you got 780 ... at sophmore year most people have not even taken chemistry yet

Oh #$%^! I fell short of my goal by 50 points!

M: 600
V: 750
Total: 1350

I guess I'll have to come to terms with the fact that I suck at math no matter how hard I try... :(

So what if it is just bragging rights? What if you have many people around you who receive 1600? It is just as that phrase described...so close, yet so far away. When you are only 20 points away from perfection, and you are hindered by one section whereon you definitely should have gotten an 800, it is just so painful.

I undestand you duality...this last sat I was one question away from a 1400 (1390 now)....

I made a 1110 and I'm happy. Anybody who complains about getting a 1550 instead of a 1600 is a nerd. There are some kids, like me, who STRUGGLE to break 1100.

And, seriously, colleges don't give a **** about the difference between a 1550 or a 1600.

Rbase, i agree. colleges don't care about the difference between 1550 and 1600. But you have to understand that our egos are also involved. Saying you got a perfect score is a lot sexier than saying you got a 1580, even though there is an infinitesimal difference.

And there is a difference between a 1500 and 1600 and definately between 1400 and 1500.

i had m710 and v760. i was aiming to get atleast 740 on math so i would get 1500.. =D
and i found out i got 800 on math! ahhhh! haha yay.

haha .. alexmartin .. thats hilarious .. yea a perfect score is so much more sexier

Lol, actually, dualityim, I know exactly where you're coming from. I've read a few of your other posts and you sound exactly like me, haha.
However, these sort of comments will tend to pique your listeners...you're really better off just relaxing and forgetting about it...either way, if you say anything you're certainly going to receive more criticism than praise. I got the same distribution actually, 1580 with 780M 800V...it was weird...I was shocked too at the math at first, but you just need to learn to laugh at these things. I was disappointed...but honestly, when it comes to the math section on the SAT I, a 780 and an 800 are virtually the same score. I know you wanted the glorious 1600 - we were all "so close" once...I'd like to see what crazy thing I did wrong too...:-/...but I mean really. It's kind of amusing.
One bright side of this is that you didn't get a 1570. Ugh, that's the worst...icky looking number...lol. Do you ever get the feeling that a 1560 or 1550 looks nicer than a 1570? Isn't there just something so "off" about a number like 1570? Lol, you need to live life and learn to amuse yourself this way. The best thing to do the night before a test - learn a new song on the guitar and sing...you figure out the things that are really worth it eventually.

800 Verbal
640 Math

My composite score is now 1490, since my highest math score is 690.

PSAT Oct. 04 - 218 (73 V, 65 M, 80 W)
Jan. 05 SAT - 1580 (800 V, 780 M)

Well, I just rechecked my score and it wasn't a hoax, I really did get a 1580 so I guess I should be very happy. Except I still don't believe that I got a a score that high. My brain is being stupid again...

"And, seriously, colleges don't give a **** about the difference between a 1550 or a 1600."

I love how everyone on the CC boards knows exactly what colleges think...

lol at last sentence
