dry campus

hey i recently was admitted to pepperdine for the spring 2012 semester and i was wondering what the social life is like. Also, is it very strict about the dry campus policies/what is the punishment for breaking it. The last thing i am wondering about is what the students there are like. thanks

The drinking scene is indeed dismal on campus and Pepperdine’s commitment as a dry campus is definitely felt among the student body–that isn’t to say you can’t find a few parties here and there during the week; most are off campus. I know on the new student checklist for Pepperdine they require you to complete an online alcohol education program–super easy program that educates you on the pros/cons of deciding to drink. Pepperdine outlines their rules and regulations regarding alcohol in the following link as well as the consequences you receive if you are caught drinking/drunk:

Well it seems like the general consensus is that drinking is pretty much non-existent at Pepperdine. However, from what I’ve read, fun can be had other ways. It’s in one of the most beautiful areas of the country and it’s 20 minutes away from the 2nd biggest city in the US. I really don’t think that anyone would be bored at this school, or that anyone should be deterred from it because of its policies on alcohol. It’s too good of a school in too good of a location to let alcohol be your determining factor.

TheGoodDoc…I agree 100%

Kudos, TheGoodDoc.

Though I wouldn’t call drinking nonexistent among Pepperdine students… especially when they get to live in Europe (or Asia or S. America) for a year and do it as they please.

would accepted students please post stats? my dtr is applying to Pepperdine in the fall, but she doesnt know if she has the gpa or sat scores to be accepted. her gpa 3.6 and sat’s 1700. thanks!

guitars101 - I would recommend that she studies this summer and retakes her SAT in the fall of her senior year.

is that 3.6 unweighted?

She’ll definitely need to get the SAT score up though. With some hard work she can easily raise it 300 points.

Yup, that SAT is too low.

thanks everyone
