I've heard that the campus is going dry.

I know that bars are common for the 21+ crowd, but that's not exactly reassuring to a potential freshman. How difficult is it for undergrads to find parties and such? Is social life completely dead because of this, or is there still stuff going on?

Haha...Maryland...going dry...haha.

i think what somebodynew means is that even if the campus did go dry, nothing would change.

trust me, if parties are what you're looking for, you will never have to search hard to find somewhere to drink! (maybe in the very beginning of the semester when you don't really know anyone throwing parties it will be harder..... my advice, walk around the knox/college/norwich area on the nights during fraternity rush. that's the easiest time to get into parties for random girls AND guys.)

lol i laughed as well when i saw this topic.. for two reasons:

for a freshman, technically the campus IS dry. if it officially goes dry, it won't change a thing.

most parties you will be going to won't be on campus anyway. like lindz said, go to knox and the frat parties to meet some people. most likely at least some of those people will be throwing parties throughout the semester. i luckily knew a lot of older kids from high school so i always had a place to drink

Mayrland is not a dry campus. A dry campus means that no one is allowed to have alcohol on campus in the residence halls. At Maryland if you are 21 or older you can choose to drank/possess alcohol in the halls.

marylandmom3 knows her stuff. yes, if you are 21+, you can have a drank (misspelled on purpose) haha

sorry...drink...you have to remember that marylandmom3 was accepted and graduated from Maryland during the 70's when all Maryland did when you applied for admission was check to make sure you had a pulse, if you did, you were admitted. LOL
