I live in New York, so it's getting pretty cold right about now, and I'm sure you know what that means -- dry air, dry heat, dry skin. This sort of thing has always been a problem for me, mostly because my parents won't invest in a humidifier, and to the point where my skin is still dry from last winter! So, gals and guys, I was curious: which brand of lotion or body cream works best for you? What scents do you like best? What would you suggest?

i use mineral oil or anything by Burt's Bees.

That's a good suggestion.

Ichthyosis. DermNet NZ

Lac-Hydrin medical facts from Drugs.com

mild version available OTC

...goodness! I'm not quite that bad, that looks awful. Poor people. I'm just a bit rough and scaly due to hard water and not having any lotion in the house, but it can probably be reversed with a good moisturizer. :/

If you can't go to a dermatologist and get a prescription, check out Cetaphil. When I use it, my skin is luminous. My grandmother even had psoriasis and she used it. Stuff's great.

I'll bear that in mind! Thanks.

I think Aveeno is pretty good, and for the winter here (I'm in MA) I have a little thing of Vaseline's intensive rescue "moisture locking lotion" that I carry around in my purse, which is niiiice. It's unscented though, so it doesn't smell like dancing waters or moonlit paths or any kind of nice flower :/ But I love it anyway.
